Follicular Unit Transplantation: FUT involves removing a strip of scalp tissue from the back of the head containing healthy follicles, then gently closing the area with stitches. The surrounding hair masks the donor site. Next, we separate the donor strip into small sections or tiny grafts. The last step is implanting these grafts into thinning or balding areas of the scalp, achieving natural-looking hair growth. 

Follicular Unit Extraction: In the FUE procedure, we first shave the back of the head and remove follicular unit grafts through small incisions. The area will heal with tiny dot scars instead of linear ones, which your existing hair will easily cover. After the harvesting process, the follicular units are individually transplanted into the recipient area of the scalp, leaving you with superior hair growth results.  

Recovery After Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplant surgery is commonly performed, with most patients enjoying excellent results and dramatic transformations. Here are a few essential points you need to keep in mind during the healing period: 

  • Your scalp may be tender for a few days, and you may need pain medication.
  • You will wear bandages over your scalp for a couple of days. 
  • If needed, we will prescribe antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication.
  • Most people are able to resume work and everyday activities two to five days after the procedure.
  • The transplanted hair will fall out within two to three weeks, which is perfectly normal.
  • You will start to notice new hair growth within a few months.
